Whether classical masterworks of the chamber music oeuvre or rollicking Scandinavian folk music, the Grammy-nominated Danish String Quartet brings their “rampaging energy” (as described by The New Yorker) to spellbound audiences. Having cut their teeth on football and Haydn quartets as young teenagers at music camp, the Danish String Quartet has matured their youthful verve and unbridled energy with unmatched ensemble precision. Their return to the String Theory stage will deliver two classical delicacies: The Purcell chacony, full of emotion, will no doubt exploit the quartet’s “intense blend, extreme dynamic variation (in which they seem glued together), perfect intonation even on harmonics, and constant vitality and flow.” (Gramophone). The Schubert string quartet, considered as a pillar in Western chamber music, will only prove to magnify the quartet’s sensitivity and ebullience.
